Business franchise opportunities gained wide popularity after the Second World War, with the food industry leading in franchising. Companies like Burger King and McDonald’s led the pack in franchising and from then on almost all successful companies had a franchise in America and soon after worldwide. It is a fact that America’s economic success has been achieved because of small enterprises that embraced the franchising opportunities offered by successful brands to get into the market.  

 

Franchising has been noted to work even when there are national and international economic crisis, with businesses embracing franchising at times like the recession in the 90s or 9/11 terrorist attacks in the U.S. 

 

Although there are a lot of opportunities and options when considering which franchise to take, there are a number of things that one needs to consider before you sign a franchise agreement. The most important item for consideration is; will you be able to do things the way the franchisor wants you to do them? In franchising, the agreement is that if you are going to use a company’s or product’s name, then you must do things the way the original company does them. Here, the outlook of the shop will have to be more or less a replica of the franchisor’s shop, the staff will have to dress the same way, services and products on offer will also have to be the same as the franchisor’s. Usually there is no room for you to make your own alterations.
